Autonomous Drones for Nature Conservation Missions (WildDrone)

WildDrone is an international training network funded by the EU Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions. We aim to revolutionize wildlife conservation practices by using autonomous drone technology as a unifying platform to monitor wildlife populations, track their movements, and manage human-wildlife conflicts. We believe that the rapid decline of wildlife populations has prompted an urgent need for more effective and feasible nature conservation practices.

5G ENabled communication Infrastructure for Unmanned Aerial Systems (GENIUS)

The aim of GENIUS is to develop a novel 5G UAS network, building upon and shaping the current 5G roll-out, but optimized for 3D coverage of the lower airspace and providing the required safety and reliability for a U-space where drones can fly safely side by side with manned aviation beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) of the pilot.

Flexible Offshore Drones for Wind (FOD4Wind)

The project aims at introducing new service technologies within offshore wind by developing fully autonomous wind turbine inspection and package deliveries using drones and fixed charging stations on offshore service vessels.

Time: January 2022 - December 2024
Role: Principal Investigator (PI) for SDU

IrrigationDrone

IrrigationDrone focuses on lowering water consumption by performing irrigation of crop fields based on analysis of the crop plants level of water stress using drone thermal images. Experiments are conducted in Uganda and Denmark.

Time: 2022 - 2024
Role: Coordinating technical work packages

Previous projects

Healthcare delivery and transportation drones (HealthDrone)

HealthDrone is a three-year innovation project funded by Innovation Fund Denmark. The aim is to develop and test HealthDrones to transport patient samples, medicine and medical equipment between hospital units, medical practices and home-visiting nurses. When ready, the healthdrones will improve the logistics in the healthcare sector and assure faster and better treatment for the patients. The drones will enable more examinations to be conducted at the medical practices or at home, instead of at the hospitals.
