The course presents the architecture of distributed embedded systems and the related hardware and software technology, including some of the latest trends in that area of research and development. The course offers a systematic treatment of various architectural and design issues such as choice of communication architecture, and software frameworks for reusable, high-level software. The course gives an overview of the diversity of distributed embedded applications and the associated software solutions. The course concerns both the low-level embedded programming required to interface with hardware nodes and high-level software frameworks required to cope with complex distributed embedded systems.
